"Oh, you can't beat my speed... I'm the fastest in the universe! "
— "到着を恐怖!! 敬礼, ギニュー特戦隊!!"

Burter (バータ, Bāta) is a tall, blue-skinned alien from the Ginyu Force squadron and is Jeice's partner. His name is a pun of "butter" (which is indirectly mentioned by Goku).

Personality[]

In DragonBall Z Abridged[]

Like the original, Burter prides himself as being the fastest guy in the universe, but is shown to be overly vocal and really defensive towards his self-proclaimed title. In actuality, Burter is aware of the redundancy of his title, and falls apart emotionally when it is challenged. Burter is aware that he isn't actually the fastest in the universe, but gives himself this title out of a belief that it makes him special.

He considers Jeice to be his best friend, and the only other member of the Ginyu Force he can truly depend on.

Biography[]

After Freeza calls the Ginyu Force for their assistance, Burter and the rest of his team travel to Namek to tracks down Vegeta and retrieve the five Dragon Balls he has stolen. In an attempt of preventing the Ginyu Force from obtaining all seven Dragon Balls, Vegeta tosses one Dragon Ball as hard as he could off in the distance, but Burter manages to catch it with his immense speed. Burter later becomes a contestant in Wheel of Death and wins an all-expense trip to Space Australia, much to his dismay. Burter along with Jeice does commentary on the sidelines during Vegeta's fight with Recoome before Goku arrives at the battlefield using his extremely quick speed (which surprises Burter at first, but then reassures himself that he's still the fastest in the universe).

After Goku knocks out Recoome in one blow, Burter and Jeice proceed to use their signature technique, Seizure Procedure, which has no effect on Goku (although it does manage to work on Krillin). Just when Jeice is getting frustrated, Burter tries to calm him down and suggests that they come up with a new plan that mostly involving his title as the "fastest in the universe". This manages to annoy Jeice, who points out Burter is not as fast as he thinks he is as Captain Ginyu and Freeza are faster than him due to having higher power levels and that technically Guldo is technically faster than him because of his ability to stop time. This causes Burter to flip out, stating that he's not slower than Guldo, but then starts breaking down because he believes that he has no special talent and is just the "big blue snake guy". Jeice denies this and claims that Burter is his best friend, which he believes is something he should be proud of. Right in the middle of reconciling their friendship, Goku knocks out Burter, leaving Jeice completely horrified (falsely believing Goku killed him instantly) and leaving the get Captain Ginyu. Burter later gets killed by Vegeta when the Saiyan Prince ruthlessly drops both knees on Burter's neck.

Burter later arrives at King Kai's planet along with his teammates (minus Captain Ginyu), but he gets sent to Hell by King Kai. It is later revealed that he was specifically sent to the Home For Infinite Losers with Guldo, Jeice and Recoome.

HFIL[]

Much like the rest of his teammates, along with Freeza, Zarbon, Dodoria, King Cold and later Cell, Burter was condemned to Hell, specifically to the Home For Infinite Losers, a place for villains too powerful for regular Hell. He is first introduced along with the rest of the Ginyu Force (sans Ginyu) playing beer pong, though with Shasta (likely due to terms set by the program of disallowing alcohol) where Burter personally remarks preference for Sprite. To welcome Cell as their new neighbor, Burter and the rest of the Ginyu Force perform their favorite, self-made dance, the Twerk-a-Rena. The spectacle horrifies Cell severely.

During the first sharing circle Burter opens up about his death at the hands of Vegeta. When Zarbon fails at his attempts at avoiding making his typical homosexual innuendoes, Burter deliberately proceeds to play off this by making his own innuendo about how Vegeta slammed him deep in the throat, openly admitting about his own orientation (with a high-five from Jeice).

During the dodgeball match between Cell and Freeza, instead of partaking in the match himself, Burter and Jeice serve as commentators to the match much like they did during Recoome's battle with Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan back on Namek.

Later when Cell is forced to returning a frisbee that the Ginyu Force had thrown, accidentally breaking his, Raditz and Super Kami Guru's kitchen window, Burter insistently invites their neighbor into their home, revealing that it was in fact the Ginyu Force who built the cul-de-sac as part of their rehabilitation and further discloses about rewards for good behavior, the site having originally been a mere camp. He further impresses Cell how they had already fixed his window between then and his arrival. Relations between the two groups sours when Cell, following numerous assaults by Ginyu (in truth a frog inhabiting Ginyu's body that everyone's unaware of) where Cell threatens to tell Goz and Mez about the the Ginyu Force being bad neighbors.

Following the confrontation the Ginyu Force begin playing pranks on Cell which initially seem like mishaps and accidents, namely due to having Guldo set them up with his time stopping ability. This results in Cell abducting Frog Ginyu and hiding him to force an apology from the group. When the Ginyu Force refuses to acquiesce it leads to a short fight out in the cul-de-sac, the group being clearly outmatched, even with Burter and Jeice double-teaming the bio-android. This leads to Jeice threatening to blow up Cell's house via bombs Guldo had planted while searching the house for Ginyu. When Cell reasons they would be forced to rebuild his house anyway, Burter points out to a technicality of them being independent contractors, so they could essentially procrastinate all they like. Cell responds by bloating up into his self-destruct form, leading to, in Burter's own words, a mutually assured destruction Mexican standoff scenario.

The event is de-escalated when Goz and Mez intervene, scolding both parties for breaking curfew and revealing the truth that Ginyu had in fact swapped bodies with a frog. At first the Ginyu Force are elated that their captain is alive, but then realize that Frog Ginyu isn't their Ginyu and come close to openly dismissing him. This is when Guldo stands up to his teammates and scolds them for so readily dismissing Frog Ginyu, whom he's come to regard as a friend despite everything and how he considers the rest of the Force his friends despite their poor treatment of him. This gets Burter and the rest to come around and accept Frog Ginyu as part of the team as their friend/pet/mascot. Burter apologizes to Cell on behalf of everyone regarding their engineered mishaps, as well as admits that they were bluffing about planting bombs, to which Cell also admit he couldn't self-destruct. Burter also points out they had nothing to do with Cell's trash bin breaking, indicating it was in fact Freeza's fault as Cell initially suspected.

During King Cold's visit to the cul-de-sac, Burter is poorly assigned as Guldo's partner during trust fall exercises in regards to the former being the tallest and the latter the shortest in the group.

Abilities[]

Super Speed[]

Burter is proclaimed as the fastest in the universe, shown when he was able to get the Dragon Ball Vegeta threw with all his might in a span of a second. However, it's mostly not true as Burter uses this title as a way to feel special compared to his teammates; even before Goku showed up, Ginyu and Freeza were both faster than him. Burter is still impressively fast, however, and even after being stripped of his ki he is able to get behind Cell in the literal blink of an eye (although Cell is able to evade him anyway).

Attack[]

  • Seizure Procedure: A team attack with Jeice. Both of them combine their aura for an attack that causes seizures against their opponents. It was useless against Goku, but affected Krillin. Original version is the Purple Spiral Flash

Trivia[]

  • Guldo once stated to Vegeta that Burter was a homosexual, although this was never openly displayed or mentioned by Burter himself until Sharing Circles of Hell.
    • Coincidently, his voice actor, series director KaiserNeko, is also gay.
  • At one point, Burter and Captain Ginyu made a bet that Guldo would die in their mission, with Burter losing and having to pay Ginyu 50 Raditz. Unfortunately, Burter was already dead by the time of the news' delivery.
  • Vegeta was able to play the Russian folk song "Korobeiniki", better known as the Tetris theme, by repeatedly crushing Burter's neck after his death.
