"Because the name's Recoome! And it rhymes with doom! And you're gonna be hurtin'... ALL... TOO... SOON!" |
Recoome (リクーム, Rikūmu) is a space pro wrestler and a member of the Ginyu Force, with his appearance of being a large, muscular, eyebrowless, redhead, humanoid alien.
Personality[]
In DragonBall Z Abridged[]
In DragonBall Z Abridged, Recoome has a more headstrong personality traits of being a professional wrestler. He often refers himself in third person and has most of his attacks start with his own name (which is later pointed out by Krillin). He also likes to smack talk his opponents, as he gives a long, scathing speech to Vegeta regarding his shortcomings. Much like the other members of the Ginyu Force, he doesn't show any remorse for Guldo's death.
Biography[]
At some point in the past, Recoome became a pro wrestler. At another point in the past, he joined the Ginyu Force. At yet another point in the past after joining the Ginyu Force, Jeice called him for help moving a piano to his 5th-story flat on Space Australia, but Recoome was busy in a match. During Freeza's search for the Dragon Balls on Namek, Recoome and his teammates are called in to help him. Once they arrive, they find Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan and steal all seven Dragon Balls. While Recoome does not participate in Wheel of Death, he does get to fight Vegeta by default due to Guldo having to fight Krillin and Gohan, Burter winning a free trip to Space Australia, and Jeice spinning a wasted spin. After Guldo gets killed, Recoome prepares to fight Vegeta, trash talking Vegeta's Saiyan heritage only for Vegeta to declare that wrestling's fake. Recoome and Vegeta then begin their battle, with Vegeta unleashing a full-on attack that only manages to disintegrate Recoome's armor, with Recoome admitting that the only thing he sells is merchandise. Recoome then proceeds to completely outclass Vegeta, beating him down to the point where Vegeta can barely stand on his feet, and shrugging off a point-blank energy blast. Just as Recoome was about to finish Vegeta off with his Recoome Eraser Gun, Krillin intervenes at the last second by land a blow on Recoome's head, throwing the blast off-course, while Gohan rushes to Vegeta and moves him out the way of the blast, much to the disappointment of Jeice and Burter, who had been commentating on the fight and broadcasting it.
While Recoome is mostly unfazed by Krillin's attack, he did lose a few of his teeth, which repulses Krillin. Now able to fight Krillin and Gohan due to their interference, Recoome then knocks Krillin down for the count with a Recoome Kick. As for Gohan, Recoome starts pummeling the young Saiyan-Hybrid before breaking his neck with kick, leaving him in a near-death state. Just before Recoome can finish Gohan off, Goku arrives and heals Gohan, Krillin, and Vegeta with Senzu Beans while ignoring Recoome's rants.
Having enough of Goku's interference, Recoome begins charging up his ultimate technique, but Goku knocks him unconscious by elbowing him in the stomach. After being fully healed, Vegeta denies that Recoome beat him up, and upon hearing that Goku didn't kill Burter or Recoome, he first kills Burter and and then kills Recooome by firing an energy blast at his unconscious body. Jeice would later note that Recoome did not die with dignity.
Recoome later arrives at King Kai's planet with the rest of the deceased Ginyu Force members (minus Captain Ginyu). King Kai quickly disposes them and sends them straight into Hell.
HFIL[]
Recoome, like the rest of his teammates, Freeza, Zarbon, Dodoria, King Cold and Cell was sent to Hell for his misdeeds in life, specifically to HFIL (Home For Infinite Losers), a rehabilitation home for villains too powerful for regular Hell. He is introduced along with the rest of the Ginyu Force playing beer pong (with Shasta), holding up Guldo due to his lack in stature. As part of their rehabilitation and propensity for synchronized dancing, the group performs an original dance to welcome to their newest neighbor Cell called the twerk-a-rena. Cell is horrified by the spectacle.
During the first group sharing circle, Recoome does a choreographed, dramatic pose laden explanation about how Vegeta killed him, i.e. "put him in his tomb" (which rhymed with Recoome and doom.)
During the dodgeball match between Freeza and Cell, Recoome was Freeza's final pick for his team (technically second personal pick due to Goz assigning Guldo for him.) Due to his sheer size and raw strength, Recoome is one of the most formidable members on Freeza's team, his throws being strong enough to generate explosions on impact. He is however the first to be eliminated from the match when Zarbon, due to his pent-up frustrations at avoiding innuendoes causing him to transform to his monstrous form, delivers a powerful throw that manages to overpower Recoome's catch.
Following Cell's threat of calling the Ginyu Force bad neighbors to Goz and Mez for their inability to keep Captain Ginyu (or rather Frog Ginyu due to having swapped bodies with a frog) under control, the lot (primarily using Guldo) begin to play pranks on Cell by deliberately engineering accidents and mishaps to befall him. One of Recoome's suggestions is replacing his (Cell's) glasses with a different prescription, to which Jeice rightfully points out Cell's lack of glasses.
The two parties come to blows once Cell abducts Frog Ginyu to force an apology, though the Ginyu Force are clearly no match against the genetically perfected Cell despite the lack of chi. This leads to a mutually assured destruction Mexican standoff when Jeice claims to have had Guldo plant bombs in Cell's house and Cell assuming his self-destruct form, until Goz and Mez diffuse the situation, scolding the two groups for being out past curfew and finally disclosing that Ginyu had in fact swapped bodies with a frog. This leads to the Ginyu Force rejoicing that their captain is actually alive somewhere, but then are all too ready to dismiss Frog Ginyu, Recoome even referring to him as a "frod" (a frog-fraud). This makes Guldo scold his teammates, finally opening up to his own acceptance that Frog Ginyu was not specifically their Ginyu, but still just as much a friend and part of the team, just as he regarded the rest of them as his friends despite their poor treatment of him. This visibly touches Recoome and the rest, Recoome even acknowledging that he knew deep down and simply refused to admit it. Once Super Kami Guru (in whose stomach Frog Ginyu was hidden in) regurgitates Frog Ginyu, Recoome happily declares he would dig him a pond in their backyard.
During King Cold's inspection of the current residents of HFIL, during a session of macaroni art where everyone was to create an image depicting their greatest regrets, Recoome proudly presents his masterpiece to everyone, unveiling that he may have had sex with Guldo's wife and that he had used the session's entire stock of rigatoni to make it. He is later assigned as Cell's partner for trust fall exercises, but chooses to belly flop and painfully pins Cell to the ground.
Attacks[]

- Recoome Elbow – An attack in which Recoome uses his elbow to strike the opponent on the head. First used in his battle against Vegeta.

- Recoome Eraser Gun – Recoome fires a purple energy beam from his mouth, practically being powerful enough to erase anything in its vicinity. Recoome used this attack in an attempt to kill an exhausted Vegeta, but was interrupted by a kick to the back of the head by Krillin.
- Recoome Ultra Fighting Miracle Attack – Also known as the Recoome Ultra Fighting Bomber, this is Recoome's ultimate attack. It is a gigantic Super Explosive Wave that can decimate anything within a huge radius around Recoome himself. Recoome attempted to perform the attack after losing his temper with Goku, but Goku knocked him out with a strike to the gut, cancelling the attack.

Trivia[]
- Merchandise he's known to sell includes toys, t-shirts, key chains, underwear, and vibrators.
- Recoome's personality is based on a combination of John Cena and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, even down to the penchant for referring to himself in the third person.
- To play on the fact that his name rhymes with "doom", his theme is a heavy metal remix of "At Doom's Gate", a signature track from hit first-person shooter game Doom.
- Recoome's signature line ("The name is Recoome, it rhymes with doom, and you're gonna be hurtin'... all... too... soon!") is actually a reference to the original English dub (a.k.a. the Saban dub) in which he said "My name is Recoome, it rhymes with doom, and you will hurt all too soon! I truly am a man of many many talents. Recoome: Master of Doom!" before 'fighting' Goku.
- Recoome happens to be the favorite Ginyu Force member of Christopher Sabat, his voice actor from the Funimation dub of the series.
- He's the first person on screen to actually meet Bojack.
- Recoome is the 4th strongest person in HFIL, after Transformed Zarbon and the ogres; however, he is significantly slower than Cell, and probably also slower than Burter and Freeza. This, combined with Cell's combat experience, allowed Cell to effortlessly defeat Recoome and the rest of the Ginyu Force in a 1 on 4 fight.
